Harvey slated for rehab start Saturday

PHILADELPHIA -- Matt Harvey continues to inch closer to a return. The Mets announced that Harvey, who has been on the disabled list since June 15 due to a stress injury to his right shoulder, will begin a Minor League rehab assignment Saturday for Class A Brooklyn.
Following that start, Harvey will rejoin the Mets to throw a side session in front of pitching coach Dan Warthen at Citi Field. He will then make at least one additional Minor League rehab outing before coming off the DL, a schedule that brings him to the fourth week in August.
In 13 starts this season, Harvey is 4-3 with a 5.25 ERA.
The Mets have said that Noah Syndergaard, who is rehabbing from a torn right lat, is several weeks behind Harvey in his rehab. Unlike Harvey, who threw live batting practice at Citi Field this week, Syndergaard has yet to climb atop a mound since suffering his injury in April. That should happen soon for Syndergaard, who was 1-2 with a 3.29 ERA in five starts.
Closer to Harvey's rehab schedule is closer Jeurys Familia, who is still on track to return from arterial surgery before the end of August.
General manager Sandy Alderson also said Thursday that starting pitcher Robert Gsellman, who is recovering from a strained left hamstring, will not come off the DL until he begins "pitching better." Gsellman has posted a 5.68 ERA in three rehab starts for Double-A Binghamton.
