Mets-O's game postponed; split doubleheader on Thursday
BALTIMORE -- Wednesday night's scheduled game between the Orioles and Mets has been postponed due to inclement weather. The game will be made up as part of a split-admission doubleheader on Thursday. Game 1 will now begin at 12:05 p.m. ET, with Game 2 scheduled for 5:05 p.m. Gates for Game 1 will open at 11 a.m. and gates for Game 2 will open at 4 p.m.
Tickets for Wednesday’s postponed game will automatically be valid for Game 2 on Thursday. Original ticket buyers for Wednesday’s postponed game who are unable to attend on Thursday at 5:05 p.m. should visit Orioles.com/Weather for options.
Tickets purchased for the originally scheduled 1:05 p.m. game on Thursday are automatically valid for the new 12:05 p.m. start time. The first 10,000 fans attending the first game will receive the Yacht Rock Cap.
Fans can continue to access their tickets through the MLB Ballpark App and can transfer or resell these tickets at SeatGeek.com.
The Mets will proceed with Wednesday’s originally scheduled starter, David Peterson, in Game 1. They won’t announce their Game 2 starter until Thursday, as it will likely depend in large part on what happens in the opener.
Rookie Justin Hagenman had been scheduled to throw bulk innings at some point this series and is a strong candidate to do so in Game 2, provided the Mets don’t need him before then.
“We’ve got to get through Game 1 and then see what we’ve got going in Game 2,” manager Carlos Mendoza said.
The Mets will at least see their pitching situation improve this weekend, with both Kodai Senga and Sean Manaea due to come off the injured list in Kansas City. Senga will start Friday’s series opener, followed by Manaea on Sunday.
Charlie Morton will take the mound for the Orioles in Game 1, as the 41-year-old right-hander looks to continue his recent run of success (a 2.97 ERA in seven starts since rejoining the rotation on May 26). Japanese right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano, who has an 8.87 ERA over his past five starts, will aim to get back on track in Game 2.
