Mets, Pirates wear ribbons for Orlando victims

NEW YORK -- The Mets and Pirates pinned silver ribbons to their uniforms on Tuesday to "stand in solidarity with the victims of Sunday morning's massacre in Orlando," the Mets announced prior to that night's game at Citi Field. The Mets also held a moment of silence prior to first pitch.
The shooting, at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, was the deadliest in U.S. history by a single gunman. It targeted members of the LGBT community.
Every Major League game on Sunday was preceded by a moment of silence for the Orlando victims. All MLB clubs also flew their U.S. flags at half-staff, and will continue to do so until Thursday.
The Mets in particular have been active in their inclusion of the LGBT community, twice inviting MLB vice president of social responsibility and inclusion Billy Bean to their Spring Training camp. This August, they are hosting their first Pride Night at Citi Field.
