CHICAGO – The White Sox hit three home runs during their 6-1 victory over the Mariners Saturday night at Rate Field.

None of those long balls came from Munetaka Murakami, who is tied with the Yankees’ Aaron Judge for Major League Baseball’s top spot in that category at 15.

Yes, Virginia, there is power throughout this burgeoning young lineup on Chicago’s South Side other than their prolific slugger at first base. Of course, anyone following the rise of this team, which ended a three-game losing streak and improved to 18-21 overall, knows all about the talent they possess.

Colson Montgomery connected first off Mariners starter Luis Castillo, launching a 94.2 mph four-seam fastball, per Statcast, located high and on the inner half, for a two-out homer during the opening frame. The connection on the 1-2 offering extended Montgomery’s on-base streak to a career-high 21 games, giving him 19 RBIs in that span.

Miguel Vargas took over from there. He hit a two-run homer in the third off Castillo and added a solo blast in the fifth for his second career multihomer performance. The only other time for Vargas came on May 16, 2025, at the Cubs, when he also hit two homers.

Sam Antonacci, playing once again in front of his friends and family, making the trip from downstate Springfield, Ill., had two runs scored and one hit. Anthony Kay earned the victory, striking out five over five innings and allowing one unearned run.
