These are the MLB monthly award winners for August

We’re in the home stretch of the 2026 MLB season, with teams making their final pushes toward the postseason and a few key award races coming to a head. These performances went a long way toward both of those chases.

Here are both leagues' monthly award winners for August:

AL Player of the Month: Jac Caglianone, Royals

The No. 6 pick in the 2024 Draft out of Florida, Caglianone struggled a bit in his first taste of the big leagues in 2025, recording just a .532 OPS in 62 games. The story is certainly different his second go-round, as the former two-way star is breaking out in real time. He slashed .411/.429/.684 -- an MLB-best 1.113 OPS -- in August to go along with six home runs and 26 RBIs. The 23-year-old crushes the baseball (93.1 mph average exit velocity) and is finding his way with an .829 OPS through 127 games in 2026. This marks Caglianone’s first career monthly award and the Royals’ first AL Player of the Month since Bobby Witt Jr. in July 2024.

NL Player of the Month: Pete Crow-Armstrong, Cubs

Right behind Caglianone in the August OPS ranks was Crow-Armstrong’s 1.069 (tied with the Phillies’ Bryce Harper for second in MLB). “PCA” also smashed an MLB-high 14 home runs, including four multi-homer games, as he furthered his case for National League MVP. Earning his second NL Player of the Month nod of the year (June), Crow-Armstrong helped the Cubs set an NL record for most dingers in a calendar month with 62.

AL Pitcher of the Month: Noah Cameron, Royals

Cameron was simply superb in August, pitching to a 1.87 ERA in five starts. That included a stellar one-hit shutout on Aug. 16 against the Angels. Cameron had a bit of a shaky start to the year, as his ERA peaked at 5.55 on May 10. But he’s back in the groove now with two or fewer runs allowed in six of his last seven starts. That earned him his first monthly award. Kris Bubic was the last Royal to win Pitcher of the Month in May 2025.

NL Pitcher of the Month: Jesús Luzardo, Phillies

Much like Cameron, Luzardo needed some time to get going this season. But the first-time All-Star has been dominant for the better portion of the summer, including a 1.31 ERA in five August starts. He punched out 46 batters in 34 1/3 innings for his first monthly honor, allowing two or fewer earned runs in each outing.

AL Rookie of the Month: Tristan Peters, White Sox

Peters, the onetime Savannah Banana, has been a revelation for the upstart White Sox, who hold first place in the AL Central in early September. The 26-year-old rookie and first-time All-Star earned his monthly honors with a 1.054 OPS in August, which also featured a five-game homer streak from Aug. 22-26.

NL Rookie of the Month: Sal Stewart, Reds

Stewart, 22, may well take home NL Rookie of the Year honors at season’s end. That’s because he’s leading the big leagues with 105 RBIs and has also swatted a team-high 31 long balls. He hit eight of those homers in August with 21 RBIs, slashing .304/.349/.530. He also won the award in April.

AL Reliever of the Month: Josh Hader, Astros

Hader has been paramount as the Astros marched back toward the top of the AL West this summer. Earning the ninth Reliever of the Month Award of his career, Hader did not allow a run in August. Opponents recorded just four hits against him, while he issued only one walk. For the season, Hader has been perfect in 21 save opportunities.

NL Reliever of the Month: Trevor Megill, Brewers

Megill (and the rest of the excellent Milwaukee bullpen) has been a huge part of the Brewers’ MLB-best record. The 6-foot-8 righty allowed just one unearned run in August and was a perfect 8-for-8 in save opportunities. Opponents hit .053 against him while he posted a 0.42 WHIP.
