Here are the monthly award winners for July

Well over halfway through the 2026 season, the outstanding individual performances just keep coming.

Here are both leagues' monthly award winners for July.

AL Player of the Month: Yordan Alvarez, Astros

Already the frontrunner for AL MVP, Alvarez further strengthened his case with another fantastic month at the plate. In 23 July games, the 29-year-old hit .360/.467/.721 -- an MLB-best 1.188 OPS (min. 75 PA) -- with nine home runs and 22 RBIs. His presence was very much felt for the resurgent Astros, who entered the month in third place in a very tight AL West and took sole possession of first place on July 31. Alvarez, now a four-time Player of the Month Award winner, has won two of the four handed out in 2026 (April).

NL Player of the Month: CJ Abrams, Nationals

July was quite the month for Abrams. The 25-year-old two-time All-Star made his first start in the Midsummer Classic this year in the middle of a major hot streak. He hit .348 with a 1.150 OPS last month, crushing an MLB-high 10 home runs plus 23 RBIs and six steals in 23 games played. This is Abrams' first Player of the Month Award.

AL Pitcher of the Month: Dylan Cease, Blue Jays

Cease's renaissance now has him firmly in the conversation for AL Cy Young -- an award he very nearly won back in 2022 -- and he takes home his fourth Pitcher of the Month Award after finding yet another gear in July. The veteran right-hander posted a 1.00 ERA and 0.72 WHIP with 46 strikeouts in 36 innings last month. Nearly unhittable over his five starts, opposing hitters went 15-for-120 (.125) against him, and he appropriately marked the two-year anniversary of his July 25, 2024, no-hitter with a one-hit, 12-K shutout against the Red Sox.

NL Pitcher of the Month: Chris Sale, Braves

Sale is no stranger to the Pitcher of the Month Award; this is his sixth time earning the honor, his first since May 2024. (He really has been dominating going on 15 years; the 37-year-old won his first award in May 2012.) As for July, he held opponents to a .186 batting average while pitching to a 2.00 ERA with a 0.81 WHIP over five starts (27 innings). He also struck out 34 alongside just four walks (8.5 K/BB).

AL Rookie of the Month: Chase DeLauter, Guardians

After a brief lull in the slugging department and a short stay on the injured list due to a minor rib fracture, DeLauter picked up in July where he left off in April. In a great all-around performance, the 24-year-old hit .298/.368/.489 with six doubles, four homers, 14 RBIs and four stolen bases, matching his combined extra-base hit total for May and June.

NL Rookie of the Month: Esmerlyn Valdez, Pirates

All but unknown outside of Pittsburgh a month ago, 22-year-old Valdez created quite the stir with a July home run binge. Seven of his eight homers came during an eight-game span from July 9-20, and his 25 RBIs for the month tied Reds rookie Sal Stewart for the most in baseball. That, alongside a solid .250/.355/.587 line, helped Valdez to become the first Pirates position player to receive Rookie of the Month honors since Ke'Bryan Hayes in September 2020. (Additionally, he puts an end to a streak of two straight NL Rookie of the Month Awards for the Rockies' TJ Rumfield.)

AL Reliever of the Month: Aroldis Chapman, Red Sox

The Red Sox needed a lot from Chapman in July -- especially during that 15-game winning streak (July 3-22) -- and he absolutely delivered. He allowed just one run over 12 appearances (0.75 ERA) and racked up 17 strikeouts in his 12 innings of work. His 10 saves were the most for a Red Sox reliever in a calendar month since Craig Kimbrel had 11 in May 2018. Chapman is now a five-time Reliever of the Month Award winner.

NL Reliever of the Month: Mason Miller, Padres

Also receiving honors for the fifth time in his (much shorter) big league career is Miller, who has now won four of the last five awards handed out in the National League, briefly interrupted by the Phillies' Jhoan Duran in June. Amid yet more trade rumors, Miller kept San Diego on track with seven saves, allowing a run on five hits over his 11 innings of work (0.82 ERA), walking two and striking out 19.
