Mr. Met has company in Mascot Hall of Fame -- make room for Mrs. Met

The New York Mets announced today that Mrs. Met has been elected to the Mascot Hall of Fame, becoming the first female mascot in history to earn the distinction. The Mascot Hall of Fame honors the greatest mascots in sports and entertainment and recognizes characters that have made extraordinary contributions to their teams, communities and the mascot profession.

Mrs. Met joins Mr. Met (Mascot Hall of Fame Class of 2007), along with an exclusive group of mascots recognized for their lasting impact on sports, entertainment and fan engagement. Since her in-person debut in 1975, Mrs. Met has become one of the most recognizable figures across Major League Baseball, delighting generations of Mets fans with her warmth, humor and unmistakable style.

"Mrs. Met has been a beloved part of the Mets family for decades and has inspired fans of all ages with her energy, kindness and unwavering love for baseball," said Katie Haas, Executive Vice President and Chief of Ballpark Operations, New York Mets. "Her election to the Mascot Hall of Fame is a historic milestone, not only for the Mets organization, but for mascots across professional sports. Beyond baseball, Mrs. Met is a New York icon, making hundreds of appearances each year at games, charitable events, youth programs and special celebrations across the New York metropolitan area.

Mrs. Met made her first in-costume appearance at Shea Stadium on Opening Day in 1975, joining Mr. Met as baseball's first mascot couple. Originally introduced in Mets publications and promotional materials before appearing at Shea Stadium, she quickly became a recognizable part of the club's identity. Her election to the Mascot Hall of Fame marks another historic milestone in a legacy that has spanned more than five decades.
