Nationals keep same plans after rainout

WASHINGTON -- The Nationals' pitching plans will remain the same after Saturday's Game 2 of the National League Division Series was postponed due to rain.
Tanner Roark will still start Game 2 on Sunday (1 p.m. ET on FS1), and left-hander Gio González will start Game 3 on Monday. Gonzalez will fly to Los Angeles ahead of the team on Sunday, although he was hoping to watch as much of Game 2 as possible.

"I think now everything's just put back -- everything's pushed right into one day," Gonzalez said. "You still have to have the mindset and the preparation of getting ready to face the Dodgers."
The Nats' players knew the forecast called for rain for most of the day Saturday, so even though they expected to play, they were prepared for at least a delayed start.
"Everybody came in here prepared to play today," second baseman Daniel Murphy said. "Not only in this clubhouse, but the Dodgers' clubhouse. We'll have to see tomorrow and get to go home at a decent hour and spend some time with your family.
"Hats off to Major League Baseball for canceling this early. They didn't want either pitcher to get out there and get caught in a situation where you lose one of them, especially in a short series like this."

Washington has been reluctant from the beginning to use right-hander Max Scherzer on three days' rest for a potential Game 4, and this would likely eliminate the idea, considering Roark would also have to pitch on short rest in a potential Game 5. That makes right-hander Joe Ross the favorite to start Game 4 for Washington.
