Nats No. 9 prospect King showing no signs of slowing down since Triple-A promotion

The uniform may be different, but not much else has changed for Seaver King since he moved up to Triple-A last week. The Nationals No. 9 prospect has been raking for Rochester, just like he was for Double-A Harrisburg.
King, 23, went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and four RBIs in the Red Wings’ 7-5 win over Worcester at Polar Park on Saturday, raising his batting average to .368 (7-for-19) over five games in Triple-A.
Overall, he’s slashing .340/.428/.564 with five homers over 40 games this season, improving dramatically after struggling in his first full Minor League campaign a year ago.

The No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft -- one pick after the Pirates selected Konnor Griffin -- King was one of three top 10 picks taken out of Wake Forest that year. But while former Demon Deacons teammates Chase Burns (No. 2 overall) and Nick Kurtz (No. 4) have already reached the Majors and had success at baseball’s highest level, King is still working his way up.
That’s nothing new for the speedy shortstop, who was lightly recruited as a high schooler and began his college career playing for Division II Wingate -- notably notching a 47-game hitting streak between the 2022 and ’23 seasons -- before transferring to Wake Forest for his junior year.
King hit just .244 with six homers and a .631 OPS over 125 games between High-A Wilmington and Double-A Harrisburg last season, but he was able to turn the page quickly with a 1.031 OPS in the Arizona Fall League. He followed that up with an .899 OPS over 11 games during Spring Training this year and has carried that positive momentum into the 2026 campaign.
