The Washington Nationals signed veteran right-hander Vance Worley to a Minor League deal with an invitation to Major League Spring Training, the team announced Saturday.
Worley, 29, went 2-2 with a 3.53 ERA in 35 games (four starts) for the Orioles in 2016. The righty provides the Nationals with a versatile option as a potential sixth starter or long reliever, both roles he has served throughout his seven-year career.
Worley returns to the National League East for the first time since pitching for the Phillies in 2012. He finished third in NL Rookie of the Year voting with Philadelphia in '11.
