Strasburg goes on paternity leave

NEW YORK -- The Nationals placed right-hander Stephen Strasburg on paternity leave Monday as he and his wife, Rachel, are expecting their second child. Jacob Turner was called up from Triple-A Syracuse to start on Monday night against the Rockies. 
Strasburg left the team in New York on Sunday and can remain on paternity leave for up to three days. However, he will not pitch during their four-game series in Colorado this week.
Strasburg is off to a strong start through his first four outings this year, lasting seven innings in each of them. He has a 2.89 ERA with 29 strikeouts and seven walks in 28 innings.
Turner threw just 1 2/3 innings before he was removed from his last start at Triple-A Syracuse. Manager Dusty Baker acknowledged earlier this week that Turner's early removal was connected to the team's upcoming trip to Colorado.
Turner, 25, was a non-roster invite to Nationals camp during Spring Training, but he remained in the organization to help provide pitching depth. He allowed 12 runs on 20 hits in 18 innings this spring.
