WASHINGTON -- The Nationals have suspended assistant hitting coach Jacque Jones with pay, pending an internal investigation pursuant to a legal matter, the team announced on Friday.
The team will have no further comment, as the situation is ongoing. Minor League hitting coordinator Troy Gingrich will assume Jones' duties in the interim.
Jones, 42, is in his second season on the Nationals' coaching staff. After a 10-year playing career, he served as a hitting coach in the Padres' organization from 2012 to 2014.
