Nats tie single-season club record for home runs

WASHINGTON -- The Nationals matched a franchise record for most home runs in Friday night's 7-6 loss to the Mets at Citi Field, when Adam Lind smacked a three-run homer in the third inning.
As home runs have spiked across baseball, Washington has followed suit. The Nats have hit 203 home runs this season, tying the franchise record -- going back to 1969 when they played in Montreal as the Expos -- set last year. The 2016 and '17 teams are the only teams in franchise history that have hit more than 200 home runs in a single season for the Nationals.
Four players have surpassed 20 home runs, with Ryan Zimmerman pacing the team at 34. Eight Nationals have hit double-digit home runs, with both Matt Wieters and Jayson Werth currently at nine.
This version of the Nats has been a more prolific offense than its 2016 counterparts, scoring a franchise record 780 runs to surpass last year's mark of 763.
"I like homers, love homers," manager Dusty Baker said prior to the game. "But I like runs."
