Episode 1 of new NBC docuseries 'Road to the Show' -- featuring 6 top prospects -- out today

The baseball journey from highly touted prospect to The Show is a rigorous one. And for the first time, fans will have never-before-seen access to that path for some of baseball’s brightest young stars.

Major League Baseball and NBC Sports announced on Wednesday that an all-new docuseries, “Road to the Show,” will take viewers through the defining moments that shape baseball's next generation, capturing the pressure, sacrifice and determination involved in pursuing a Major League dream while highlighting the families, coaches and teammates who make that journey possible.

“Road to the Show” debuts with its pilot episode today on Peacock. The five-part series will feature six of the game’s most exciting young players – four MLB prospects and two top college prospects who are expected to be taken in the first round of the MLB Draft on July 11.

Those players are (with MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 rankings and Draft rankings in parentheses):

• Jesús Made, SS, Brewers (MLB No. 1) – Signed by Milwaukee at age 17 in 2024, the Dominican shortstop jumped onto the Top 100 Prospects list after slashing .331/.458/.554 in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League in his debut season and continued a meteoric rise to the top spot early this season. He’ll represent the Brewers for the second time in this year’s All-Star Futures Game.
• Ethan Holliday, SS, Rockies (MLB No. 17) – The son of seven-time MLB All-Star Matt and younger brother of 2022 No. 1 overall Draft pick and current Orioles infielder Jackson, Holliday was the fourth overall pick in last year’s Draft.
• Braden Montgomery, OF, White Sox (MLB No. 23) – Montgomery was drafted 12th overall by the Red Sox in 2024 and then dealt to the White Sox that December as part of Boston’s package for lefty Garrett Crochet. The 23-year-old former two-way player made quick work of the Minors, playing just 177 games before debuting for Chicago this June.
• Gage Wood, RHP, Phillies (MLB No. 54) – On the heels of his historic 19-strikeout no-hitter for Arkansas in the College World Series, Wood was taken 26th overall by the Phillies in last year’s Draft. The ultra-competitive right-hander made eight starts at Single-A Clearwater this year before being bumped up two levels to Double- A Reading and will represent Philadelphia in front of his club’s hometown fans in the All-Star Futures Game.
• Roch Cholowsky, SS, UCLA (Draft No. 1) – The son of a former first-round Draft pick and long-time scout, Cholowsky chose baseball at UCLA over a football scholarship to play quarterback for Notre Dame, and he spent his junior year as the top-ranked prospect in this year’s Draft class. The 21-year-old Golden Spikes Award finalist led the Bruins to a 52-8 record and a Big 10 Conference title this year.
• Justin Lebron, SS, Alabama (Draft No. 9) – One of the most dynamic and athletic prospects in this year’s Draft class, the 21-year-old shortstop has plus power, speed, and defense to go along with a plus arm. He cites his younger brother, Jayden, who was born with Williams syndrome, as his biggest inspiration.

Each 30-minute episode, narrated by baseball content creator Dan Sarmiento (DSARM), will offer an intimate look beyond the box score, chronicling breakthrough performances, setbacks and personal milestones as these rising stars take the next steps in their careers.

Following today’s premiere episode, the remaining four episodes will air on Friday, July 10; Sunday, July 19; Sunday, July 26 and Sunday, Aug. 2. The entire series can be streamed on Peacock.
