Vizquel refutes report about Venezuela post

Omar Vizquel denied reports on Wednesday that he has been replaced as manager of Team Venezuela for the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
Sources close to the Venezuelan Baseball Federation and Major League Baseball said that Team Venezuela would replace Vizquel with Eddie Perez.
"I'm the manager of Team Venezuela and I have the support and respect of the players," Vizquel said in a statement.
Although the Federation has not publicly confirmed the decision to change managers, Efrain Ruiz of MLB.com's Spanish-language site, LasMayores.com, reported that MLB has been notified of the decision.

Ivon Gaete, also of LasMayores.com, was the first to report the managerial change.
Vizquel, 49, played 24 years in the Major Leagues and is considered one of the best defensive shortstops in MLB history. He is currently the first-base coach for the Detroit Tigers, and sources cited his inability to fully commit to the WBC as a reason for the managerial change. Vizquel was originally appointed by general manager Carlos Guillen back in February.
Perez, 48, had a 11-year big league career, including nine seasons with the Atlanta Braves. He is currently the Braves' first-base coach. In Venezuela, he is the manager of Tigres de Aragua, with whom he won the winter league title in 2015-16.
