Kim, Ubaldo activated; Alvarez optioned

BALTIMORE -- The Orioles made several roster moves prior to Tuesday's game, adding Hyun Soo Kim from the disabled list and Ubaldo Jiménez from the paternity list.
To clear roster spots, the O's optioned Dariel Álvarez to Triple-A on Monday night and designated outfielder Julio Borbon for assignment on Tuesday evening.
The moves leave Baltimore with 13 pitchers and a short bench for its current roster makeup, a move that manager Buck Showalter said the team had been kicking around for some time.
Jimenez, who welcomed his first child -- a daughter named Jimevi -- on Saturday, said he didn't pay attention much to his name circulating in trade rumors. The right-hander, who will get the start Thursday, is more concerned now with getting back on track after not being on a regular schedule since the first half of the season.

"Last couple days I've been throwing, playing catch whenever I could," Jimenez said. "Today I threw a little bit, but after that I don't know what's going to happen [schedule-wise]."
Kim, who was on a rehab stint for Double-A Bowie, is coming off a hamstring injury he sustained in the final game of the first half. This was his first time on the DL. The 28-year-old has batted .329/.410/.454 (50-for-152) with 10 doubles, three home runs, and 11 RBIs over 46 games with the Orioles this season.
Borbon, 30, hit .222/.222/.222 (2-for-9) with a run scored in five Major League games. Alvarez, who will continue at Triple-A Norfolk, is expected to play winter ball for Venezuela, Showalter said.
