O's to renovate LF upper deck at Camden Yards, add social space

BALTIMORE -- The left-field upper deck at Camden Yards will be undergoing significant renovations ahead of the 2027 season.

The Orioles announced on Tuesday that their home ballpark will have approximately 2,000 seats removed in order to build a new social space in the upper deck in left field. The area will include drink rails, standing room viewing areas, spacious gathering zones with tables and chairs, a central bar, diverse concession offerings and televisions.

The construction will begin immediately, with the space scheduled to be open for Opening Day 2027. It will be open to all ticketed fans, and the area will also be rented out for private events on non-game days.

"We’re extremely excited to begin these renovations and bring this space to life at Oriole Park,” Orioles president of business operations Catie Griggs said in a statement. “We’ve listened to our fans, who have expressed a desire for more social spaces that offer a vibrant atmosphere to gather, connect and cheer on the O’s together. We’re confident this will quickly become a popular destination inside our gates next season.”

Sections 382-388 were often closed off in recent years. So, it makes sense for the O's to renovate the area and use it for what will likely become a popular spot for fans to enjoy games.

Camden Yards' estimated adjusted ballpark seating capacity will be 40,234.

The Orioles have done quite a bit to upgrade the park -- which opened in 1992 -- in recent years. Prior to the 2026 season, a new center-field videoboard was built, an upgraded sound system was installed and other renovations took place.

"By strategically reimagining existing spaces at Oriole Park at Camden Yards we are creating new game-day experiences while expanding opportunities for year-round business and community use,” Maryland Stadium Authority executive director Lindsey Parker said in a statement. “The Maryland Stadium Authority looks forward to our continued partnership with the Baltimore Orioles on these renovation projects and ensuring this iconic ballpark continues to serve fans, the community and the State of Maryland for years to come.”

The Orioles will be announcing additional renovations to various areas of the ballpark later this year.
