Orioles prospect hits ground running at High-A following Rutschman trade 

A change in scenery hasn’t slowed down Enddy Azocar at High-A -- he’s received a boost, actually.

Azocar joined the Orioles organization at the Trade Deadline in the deal that sent three-time All-Star catcher Adley Rutschman to the Red Sox. One of four players Baltimore received in the deal, Azocar made the most immediate impact upon his assignment to High-A Frederick.

The Orioles’ No. 8 prospect assimilated to the lineup well, recording a hit in seven of his first 15 at-bats (.467, 1.238 OPS). He legged out extra bases on four of those hits. The hot start for the Keys continues a run this season where Azocar seems to hit everywhere he goes.

Between Frederick, High-A Greenville (Red Sox) and Single-A Salem, the 19-year-old Azocar has slashed .293/.345/.550 through 88 games in 2026.

Boston rewarded the young outfielder multiple times with promotions within his first two seasons of pro ball. After signing as an international free agent from Venezuela, he reached base at a .397 clip in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League in 2024. Azocar hit .232 while adjusting to his first season stateside in 2025 between the Rookie-level Florida Complex League and Single-A.

The 2026 season so far has been a breakout campaign offensively for Azocar. He also features developing tools defensively and put on positive weight to build out his 6-foot-2 frame. The Orioles welcome him into a system that has five of its Top 10 prospects currently calling High-A home.
