ATLANTA -- Before Monday’s series finale against the Mets, the Braves selected right-hander Owen Murphy to the MLB roster for the first time.

Murphy, Atlanta’s first-round pick (20th overall) in the 2022 MLB Draft, has a 3.88 ERA in 11 starts for Triple-A Gwinnett this season across 60 1/3 innings, as well as a 6.10 ERA over 20 2/3 innings in five starts with Double-A Columbus. MLB Pipeline ranked Murphy as the Braves' No. 6 prospect this season and tagged him with a 2028 expected time of arrival.

In a corresponding move, the Braves designated righty Carlos Carrasco for assignment. Carrasco, who turns 40 in March, made eight relief appearances for Atlanta, sporting a 5.94 ERA through 16 2/3 innings. Last season with Atlanta, Carrasco’s ERA was 9.88 in three starts across 13 2/3 innings.

The club also recalled RHP JR Ritchie to Atlanta and placed left-hander Martín Pérez on the 15-day injured list with a left forearm contusion suffered in Sunday's loss to the Mets, forcing him to leave the game. Like Murphy, Ritchie was a 2022 first-round selection of Atlanta (35th overall), debuting earlier this season as the Braves' No. 2 prospect. In 43 2/3 innings pitched, he has one save and a 4.53 ERA in nine appearances, seven of which have been starts. Pérez has amassed 14 starts and four relief appearances with Atlanta this season, throwing 81 1/3 innings with a 3.54 ERA.

Not long after announcing the above transactions, Atlanta placed outfielder Eli White on the paternity list and selected outfielder José Azócar to the MLB roster. The Braves designated catcher Jair Camargo for assignment to make room for Azócar.

White is in his fourth season with Atlanta, slashing .227/.277/.400 in 119 plate appearances across 53 games. Azócar, a former Met, is in his second season as a Brave, going 5-for-15 (.333) with one walk and one stolen base in nine MLB games. Among a whirling dervish of catchers to suit up for the Braves this year, Camargo went 1-for-2 in his lone game with Atlanta on June 17, doubling and scoring in a 7-5 loss against San Francisco.
