SAN DIEGO -- It’s nearly baseball season. A few days ago, the Padres packed their equipment and sent their trucks to Peoria, Ariz., to prepare for Spring Training. Next week, pitchers and catchers officially report.
Here’s everything you need to know, with Spring Training just around the corner:

What are some other notable games on the schedule?
The Padres’ host the rival Dodgers on Feb. 22 in the only game between the two at the Peoria Sports Complex -- and the only game between the two full squads. They will meet again on March 20 at the Dodgers’ complex in Glendale, though the Padres are slated to have a split squad that day, with a home game against the Rockies.

When is the Spring Breakout game?
Spring Breakout is a four-day event showcasing the best prospects in each organization, with all 30 clubs taking part. The Padres will head to Mesa, Ariz., to face the Cubs on March 21 in the third edition of the event. Rosters will be announced at a later date.
Where is the team’s facility?
For the 33rd season, Padres Spring Training will take place at the Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, Ariz., with games played at Peoria Stadium.
Can fans attend workouts?
Yes, Padres workouts are open to the public, including up-close access to players before and after those workouts. Generally, those workouts begin in the morning around 9 a.m. and run until around noon or until players retreat to the complex to prepare for that day’s game.
Which players and prospects are on the Padres’ Spring Training roster?
All players on the 40-man roster are part of the team’s spring roster. The Padres have not announced which players and prospects will receive non-roster invitations to Spring Training.
(Remember, a year ago, Gavin Sheets was among those invitees and quickly earned his way into a regular role. Two years ago, then-top prospect Jackson Merrill was among those invitees and broke through in a major way, forcing his way onto the Opening Day roster.)

The two teams will play a three-game series with games scheduled for March 27 and 28, as well. Then, after a rare Sunday off-day, the Padres host a three-game series against the division-rival Giants beginning on March 30.
