Padres' offense struggles sans Solarte

The Padres have won two of three games since infielder Yangervis Solarte was lost to the Padres with a left oblique strain. But the Padres offense is showing the effects of being without its hottest hitter.
The Padres have scored only four runs in three games without Solarte -- the wins being by scores of 3-2 and 1-0. They have hit .167 (15-for-90) without Solarte while drawing 12 walks for a .265 on-base percentage. They have three doubles and a home run.
Catcher Austin Hedges gave the Padres a boost Friday night, driving in the game's lone run in the 1-0 victory over Detroit at Petco Park with a double in his first at-bat since returning from being run over by Anthony Rizzo Monday night in Chicago.

Rookie catcher Luis Torrens was 4-for-8 and drew a game-winning, base-loaded walk in the finale in Chicago while subbing for Hedges.
But the bulk of the Padres' offense has struggled.
Wil Myers is 2-for-9 since Solarte's been out of the lineup, although he walked four straight times in Chicago. Cory Spangenberg is 2-for-9 with two walks, although he reached base in all three plate appearances Friday night. Hunter Renfroe is 1-for-10 with a walk and five strikeouts.
Shortstop Erick Aybar is 2-for-9 with a homer. Jose Pirela is 3-for-13 with a double and a RBI. Center fielder Franchy Cordero is hitless in his last 19 at-bats with 12 strikeouts.
Worth noting:
Rehab updates:
• LHP Christian Friedrich made his fourth rehab start -- and his first with Triple-A El Paso -- Friday night and allowed six runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in three innings. Friedrich has been on the disabled list since Spring Training.
• RHP Jered Weaver, who has been on the Padres' disabled list since May 20 with a left hip issue, allowed three runs on five hits and a walk Thursday night in his first rehab start with Triple-A El Paso.
• RHP Trevor Cahill, who went on the disabled list for the second time this season on May 14 with right shoulder inflammation, allowed four runs (two earned) on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts Thursday night in 2 2/3 innings with Advanced Single-A Lake Elsinore.
• CF Manuel Margot was 0-for-5 Friday night and is 2-for-17 after four games in his rehab assignment with El Paso. Margot has been on the disabled list since May 27 with a calf strain.
