When Paige Sinicki announced in June that she was battling Stage 2 breast cancer, she ended her video by saying, "I look forward to seeing you all on the field this summer."
Sinicki was back on the field Tuesday night at Hillsboro Ballpark, taking over at second base for the Portland Cascade in the fifth inning of their 4-2 win over the Carolina Blaze.
After Sinicki entered the game, broadcaster Geoff Arnold called it "one of the best things you're gonna see in sports all year."
The ball found Sinicki -- who was acquired by the Cascade in the fourth round of the 2026 Allocation Draft following a collegiate career at Oregon -- in the fifth, as she cleanly fielded a grounder and fired to first for the second out of the inning. She grounded out in her one at-bat.
"If your eyes are watering a little bit, we promise you you're not the only ones," Arnold added.
