SAN FRANCISCO -- Three weeks after he was taken by the Giants in the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft, Patrick Bailey will be heading to Summer Camp.

The Giants announced Bailey signed with the club on Tuesday. His bonus is $3.8 million, slightly below the $4,197,300 slot value for the No. 13 overall pick, according to MLB Pipeline’s Jim Callis. The switch-hitting catcher out of North Carolina State University will be added to the Giants’ player pool, Callis reported. The Giants' player pool has nine open spots.

Bailey, 21, will join fellow top prospects Joey Bart, Marco Luciano and Heliot Ramos at Giants training camp this month. With no professional games under his belt, Bailey is not expected to reach the Majors in 2020, but by entering the player pool, he’ll have a chance to gain some developmental reps now that the Minor League season has been canceled.
