Phillies-White Sox postponed; DH on Tuesday

CHICAGO – Monday night’s series opener between the White Sox and Phillies at Guaranteed Rate Field has been postponed due to a forecast of high winds and cold temperatures.

The game will be made up as part of a straight doubleheader Tuesday starting at 4:10 p.m. ET/3:10 p.m. CT. The second game will begin approximately 30-45 minutes following the conclusion of the opener, but not before 6:10 p.m. CT, which is the originally scheduled time for Tuesday’s contest. Parking lots and gates will open at 2:10 p.m. CT.

After temperatures reached the high 70s on Thursday through Saturday in Chicago, the forecast for the scheduled first pitch Monday was 41 degrees with 14 mph winds. It snowed Monday morning in Chicago.

The Phillies will start Zack Wheeler in Game 1, while Bailey Falter will get the nod in the nightcap. As for the White Sox, Lance Lynn was originally scheduled to start Monday, while Lucas Giolito was slated to start Tuesday.

Fans with tickets, parking and Huntington Bank Stadium Club passes to Tuesday’s originally scheduled 6:10 p.m. contest can attend both games of the doubleheader. Season-ticket holders will receive a credit to their account for game tickets and parking for Monday’s game. Refunds for all other purchases, including Ticketmaster, SeatGeek and Stubhub, should be initiated at the point of purchase.

Both teams enter with 6-10 overall records. The White Sox are 3-7 in their last 10 and 2-4 at home, having yet to win a series (0-4-1) or two straight games this season. The Phillies are 5-5 in their last 10 and 3-7 on the road.
