Florimon dislocates ankle running to first

MIAMI -- Phillies outfielder Pedro Florimón suffered a gruesome ankle injury in Philadelphia's 10-9 loss to the Marlins on Saturday, and it could cost him the rest of this season.
Florimon dislocated his right ankle after rolling it awkwardly on first base in the second inning. He lunged toward the bag while legging out an infield single on a grounder to shortstop Miguel Rojas.
The versatile utility man was still being evaluated in the hospital upon game's end, but Phillies manager Pete Mackanin's words weren't encouraging.
"He's most likely done for the year, I would imagine," Mackanin said. "We'll know more. He's still in the hospital."
Wincing in pain on the ground, Florimon had to be carried off the field and carted off after a team trainer looked at him. His ankle was placed in an air cast.
Hyun Soo Kim pinch-ran for Florimon with the Marlins leading 3-0 and took over in right field, while Nick Williams slid over to play center. Kim finished the game 1-for-3 with a walk.
Somewhat of a journeyman, Florimon was making the most of his time with the Phillies this season. The switch-hitter was hitting .348 (16-for-46) in 15 games since being recalled from Triple-A on Aug. 17.
Just a day ago Mackanin raved about the way Florimon was playing.
"He's a professional player. I like him in center field, I like him at short. He's a good defensive player," Mackanin said. "He'd be a good guy to keep around."
Philadelphia's outfielders have been plagued by injuries of late. Odúbel Herrera and Aaron Altherr are currently on the 10-day DL with hamstring strains, although both are due back soon.
In the meantime, Kim could play a corner-outfield spot, while Williams mans center. Shortstop Freddy Galvis can also play outfield, as he did when Rhys Hoskins left the game for precautionary reason in the seventh after he was hit by a pitch in his right wrist.
