Two Pirates prospects found their power stroke in a wild 16-14 win for High-A Greensboro over Asheville on Sunday at HomeTrust Park.
Yordany De Los Santos (PIT No. 18 prospect) continued his strong 2026 with the first multi-homer game of his career, while Murf Gray (No. 17) whacked multiple long balls for the fourth time in his Minor League career.
De Los Santos smashed his first big fly to right-center field to get things going in the first inning. The shortstop then went yard again as part of an eight-run second inning, going to almost the exact same part of the park.
He finished his day 4-for-7, singling in the third and the seventh. Four hits, as well as four RBIs, were a career-high for the 21-year-old out of the Dominican Republic. After an undisclosed injury to begin the season, De Los Santos is enjoying a breakout 29-game stretch, now up to a .314/.392/.648 season slash with 11 home runs. That has already matched the 11 homers he hit in 118 games last season.
Meanwhile, Gray went 3-for-6 with four RBIs, homering in the second and seventh innings. His seventh-inning shot helped Greensboro retake the lead, 12-11, before Asheville battled back yet again.
Greensboro was finally able to pull away thanks to a Carlos Caro homer and an Edward Florentino sacrifice fly for insurance in the ninth inning.
