Pirates, Rangers prospects hit milestones ... against each other in same High-A game

You never know what might happen at the ballpark.

On a night filled with offense, Wyatt Sanford (PIT No. 6) and Yeison Morrobel (TEX) did their very best to stand out ... and boy, did they ever.

Sanford homered three times to power High-A Greensboro to a wild 19-13 win over Hub City on Tuesday night at First National Bank Field.

Not to be outdone in defeat, Morrobel singled in his final plate appearance to become the first player in Hub City's two-year history to hit for the cycle.

All told, the two clubs combined for 32 runs on 30 hits -- including 12 home runs.

While three-homer games aren't as rare as cycles, Sanford wasn't a likely source to produce one. Lauded more as a speedy middle infielder who could develop into a gap-to-gap hitter, the Texas native opened eyes with five dingers in his first 15 games of the year. Although he's been a solid contributor at the plate for the Grasshoppers, Sanford had gone deep just once in his past 25 games.

Then came Tuesday night.

Sanford snapped his homerless drought with a long tater to center field in the fourth inning and followed that up with a laser to right in his next at-bat in the sixth. With the score tied, 10-10, in the seventh, the 20-year-old took aim at center again, drilling his third jack of the night and ninth of the season to cap a four-RBI night while pushing his OPS to .979.

It was the first three-homer game for Greensboro since Keiner Delgado launched a trio on May 21, 2025, at Asheville.

Watching the action from the other side of the field was Morrobel, who has rebounded nicely after an injury-plagued 2025. The 22-year-old kicked off his historic night with a first-pitch homer leading off the game for Hub City -- his fifth roundtripper in 37 games after hitting six in 78 contests a year ago.

Morrobel was a bystander in his club's offensive exploits in his next two at-bats but got back on track with a two-run double in the sixth. The Dominican Republic native laced his first triple of the year in the next frame before a fortuitous infield single by teammate Luke Hanson enabled Morrobel to bat in the ninth.

The lefty-swinging outfielder took advantage of the extra chance, ripping a hard single into right to complete the fourth cycle in the Minors this season.
