Rangers, Odor announce 6-year deal

The Rangers announced their agreement on a six-year contract extension with second baseman Rougned Odor during a news conference on Thursday.
The deal, which according to Major League sources and multiple media outlets is worth $49.5 million, covers the 2017-22 seasons and includes a club option for '23.
Odor, 22, enjoyed a breakout 2016 season during which he clubbed 33 home runs -- third most among Major League second baseman. Odor batted .271/.296/.502 in 150 games for Texas last season, adding 88 RBIs and 304 total bases.
Odor, who has 2.121 years of service time, would have be eligible for arbitration after the 2017 season. The new deal will buy out all three of Odor's arbitration years and his first three years of free agency, plus the team option for '23.
Odor is a career .265/.302/.464 hitter with 58 home runs over three seasons. He debuted in 2014 at age 20 and has increased his batting average and slugging percentage each season since.
