Rays add veteran lefty Eveland to bullpen

NEW YORK -- The Rays added left-hander Dana Eveland from Triple-A Durham following Sunday's 4-2 win over the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, Tyler Sturdevant was designated for assignment.
Eveland has been up and down with the Rays twice this season. In 20 innings, he has an 8.55 ERA, but has a 0.30 ERA in Triple-A.
Sturdevant had a 3.93 ERA with the Rays this season, but has only one appearance since July 6. He had a 10.80 in his final 10 appearances for Durham.
"Dana did a tremendous job when he got sent down," Rays manager Kevin Cash said. "In Durham, his numbers were just ridiculous. Excited for him to get back up here, provide some more depth. Obviously he had some confidence going into the offseason for the Durham team, [and he can] bring that confidence up here and pitch well for us."
