Rays offer unique items for 'Play Ball' auction

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. -- Hitting lessons with Rays slugger Brad Miller is among three opportunities for Rays fans to bid on for the Play Ball charity auction.
Major League Baseball and all 30 clubs have organized a charity auction benefiting youth baseball and softball in Little Ferry, N.J., the hometown of former Mets public relations executive Shannon Forde.
A dedicated Mets employee, Forde lost her battle with breast cancer in March and the funds from this auction will help in building a field in her name that will ensure that her legacy lives on forever. Bid on more than 75 unique baseball-related experiences or memorabilia packages for this worthwhile cause.
Bidding will end Thursday at 9 p.m. ET at MLB.com/Shannon.
The hitting lessons with Miller also includes the participation by a Rays coach. The winning bidder (and up to three guests) will receive a hitting lesson with Miller. Afterward, the winner and his group will watch batting practice from the field and take in the game with four tickets on a mutually agreed upon date.
Other Rays auction items
Being a Rays intern for a day: The winning bidder will receive the opportunity to serve as an intern in Tampa Bay's front office on a mutually agreed upon date.
Take the lineup card to home plate: The winning bidder will have the opportunity to take the lineup card to home plate before a Rays home game. Before that experience, the winning bidder and three guests will get a tour of the Rays' clubhouse at Tropicana Field, watch batting practice from the field and enjoy the game with four tickets on a mutually agreed upon date.
