Longoria leaves game with forearm tightness

ST. PETERSBURG -- Evan Longoria did not bat in the bottom of the 13th inning of the Rays' 3-2 victory over the Mariners due to left forearm tightness.
With runners on first and third and one out, Taylor Motter pinch-hit for the Rays slugger.
"Longo's been dealing with a tight forearm," Rays manager Kevin Cash said. "The at-bat before, the [Steve] Cishek at-bat, he check swung. It really grabbed him, kinda flared up on him and became really sore over the next inning or two. So we felt it was probably smart to get him out of there."
Longoria said his forearm was "just sore."
"Every time I try swinging, it gets fired up," Longoria said. "It just happened in that at-bat against Cishek. It's a day-to-day thing."
Given the fact the Rays play a 1:10 p.m. ET game Thursday afternoon, it's a good bet the Rays veteran gets a day off. On Wednesday night, Longoria tied former Rays outfielder Carl Crawford for the longest service time of any player in Rays history at 8 years, 72 days.
Longoria has been the Rays' hottest hitter of late. He's hitting . 278 with 16 home runs and 40 RBIs.
