Every Rays steal of home in franchise history

ST. PETERSBURG -- Last June 3 at George M. Steinbrenner Field, Jake Mangum took off and stole second base in the sixth inning of the Rays’ game against the Rangers. When catcher Kyle Higashioka’s throw slowly bounced off Corey Seager’s glove and into shallow center field, Junior Caminero trotted home from third base to score.

Two innings later, Caminero scored in a more familiar way: He launched a high fastball out to left-center field for a home run.

It was the first time a player had a home run and a steal of home in the same game since Boston’s Jarren Duran did so on May 21, 2024 … coincidentally, against the Rays. Adding to the oddity? The last Ray to homer and steal home in the same game was Randy Arozarena in Game 1 of the 2021 American League Division Series … against the Red Sox.

Stealing home is a rare feat and usually a thrilling moment, whether it happens as part of a double-steal or as a straight-up, solo act of daring baserunning. The Rays have done so 17 times in the regular season or postseason.

Here’s a look at each instance of the Rays stealing home, starting with the most recent one.
