RED SOX RECALL RIGHT-HANDED PITCHER LUIS GUERRERO FROM TRIPLE-A WORCESTER

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today recalled right-handed pitcher Luis Guerrero from Triple-A Worcester. To make room on the active roster, Boston designated left-handed pitcher Sean Newcomb for assignment.

Guerrero, 24, has pitched in three games for Boston this season, tossing 4.0 scoreless innings with one hit and three strikeouts. The right-hander has also made 13 appearances for Worcester, recording a 4.91 ERA (10 ER/18.1 IP). Selected by the Red Sox in the 17th round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, the Dominican Republic native has not allowed an earned run over his first 12 career Major League appearances, holding opponents to a .152 batting average (7-for-46) with two walks and 12 strikeouts over 14.0 innings.

Newcomb, 31, has posted a 3.95 ERA (18 ER/41.0 IP) with 41 strikeouts in 41.0 innings over 12 games (five starts) for Boston. Originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the first round (No. 15 overall) in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, the Massachusetts native owns a 4.46 ERA (234 ER/472.0 IP) in 187 career games (65 starts) with the Atlanta Braves (2017-22), Chicago Cubs (2022), Athletics (2023-24), and Red Sox (2025).
