There's a 'Heated Rivalry' coming to Fenway ... and it's not the Yankees
When you think of the Red Sox and a rivalry, you think of the Yankees. But Boston is bringing a different form of the concept to Fenway Park this summer.
The club, in partnership with publisher Harlequin, announced it is planning a unique promotional theme night based on the hit romance-novel-turned-TV-series “Heated Rivalry," part of author Rachel Reid’s “Game Changers” series. Heated Rivalry Night with the Red Sox does not yet have a date, but interested fans can sign up with their email on the team’s website for further updates about the event.
The Red Sox promised a night “filled with surprises and special moments that fans of the Game Changers series won’t want to miss.” They also confirmed Reid will be in attendance.
“Heated Rivalry” follows the story of Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, star hockey players who are in a secret romantic relationship. Rozanov plays for the fictional Boston Raiders of Major League Hockey, giving the Red Sox a tie-in to the plot.
The “Heated Rivalry” novel was released in 2019, while the show debuted in November on Crave and streaming on HBO Max. Created by Jacob Tierney, the show stars Hudson Williams as Hollander and Connor Storrie as Rozanov.
The Red Sox begin their season on Thursday at the Reds. Heated Rivalry Night will be one of many pop culture theme nights at Fenway Park this year, including Hello Kitty Day on April 4, Diary of a Wimpy Kid Day on April 18 and Harry Potter Day on May 2.
