Reds launch 2 HRs before 1st out vs. White Sox

CINCINNATI - Home runs have been a big part of the Reds' recent surge, and they came again in a big way early in Tuesday night's 12-8 loss to the White Sox.
Following a leadoff triple by José Peraza against White Sox starter Lucas Giolito, Scooter Gennett hit a 1-1 pitch for a two-run homer to right field, giving the Reds a 2-0 lead. The ball came off the bat at only 90.4 mph and had a four-percent hit probability, according to Statcast™.
After Joey Votto walked, Eugenio Suárez clubbed a 0-1 pitch for a two-run homer to left field for a 4-0 gap.

Gennett, who came in as the National League's leading hitter with a .336 average, has 14 homers this season.
Suarez, who has 17 home runs thus far in 2018, has slugged six homers and 18 RBIs over his last 23 games, and Tuesday's long ball put him ahead of the Cubs' Javier Báez for the NL RBI lead with 63.
Entering the night, the Reds had won 15 of their last 20 games while hitting 26 home runs and averaging just over six runs per game.
