MESA, Ariz. -- Outfielder Ryan LaMarre's tiebreaking, two-run single in the seventh inning propelled the Angels to a 5-3 Cactus League victory over the A's at Hohokam Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Outfielder Ben Revere and third baseman Luis Valbuena -- who signed with the Angels this offseason -- chipped in with RBI doubles to help Los Angeles secure its second win in as many tries.
The A's, meanwhile, seek their first spring victory, despite out-hitting the Angels, 6-5. Outfielder Alejandro De Aza tripled and scored on Mark Canha's ensuing double in the third, and catcher Ryan Lavarnway doubled and was brought home on outfielder Jaycob Brugman's single in the seventh. Top prospect Franklin Barreto finished with two hits.

Right-hander Bud Norris, competing for the fifth spot in the Angels' rotation after signing on as a free agent last month, struck out two and issued one free pass in 1 2/3 innings in his first spring start.

"Bud was fine, just overthrowing a little bit," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "I think he settled in. You saw him really show some life on his fastball, really good slider."

On the other side, A's No. 7 prospect Daniel Gossett -- getting a surprise start amid team pitching changes -- provided two scoreless innings with no hits and two walks allowed.

"He got outs," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "Probably not the command that he wanted, but probably some nerves in his first start."
