River Turtles earn commanding win vs. Axmen
The Pulaski River Turtles took down the Kingsport Axmen with a commanding 13-4 victory. Pulaski's hot streak continues as they now have won eight of the past ten games and are 10-8 on the season. The Axmen fell to 7-11 on the season.
A wild pitch in the first started the scoring off for the game as it brought in Jackson Beaman and made it 1-0.
A couple of wild pitches and an RBI single by Irvin Escobar helped the River Turtles put up a run in the second and made the game, 2-0.
Pulaski's strong start continued in the third, as an error brought in Jackson Beaman and Garrett Rice had an RBI single to extend Pulaski's lead and make the score 4-0 after three.
In the fourth, Kingsport finally got on the board as they put up four runs. Despite Kingsport's surge, Pulaski answered back with even more firepower as they put up a strong five-run fifth. A two-run 377-foot homer to left field by Irvin Escobar, his first homer of the season, started the scoring for Pulaski. An RBI double by Cameron Leary and a 2-RBI double by John Bay capped off the inning and made the game 9-4.
The bats wouldn't stop for Pulaski as they added another four runs in the eighth. Escobar continued his success as his double brought in two runs. The man right behind him, Evan Minarovic, had a 2-RBI double that would drive in the final runs of the game and make it 13-4.
Escobar was the player of the game as he went 3-4 with 5 RBIs, and hit his first home run of the season.
The River Turtles look to come out of this homestand undefeated with a rematch against the Axmen Friday.
