Ray's solid outing sets tone against Giants

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Robbie Ray continued his strong spring by allowing one run over 3 1/3 innings as the D-backs cruised to a 5-1 win over the Giants on Saturday in front of a Salt River Fields record crowd of 13,557.
Ray, who is expected to start the third game of the regular season for the D-backs, has given up one run in seven spring innings.
"I felt like the ball was coming out pretty good," Ray said. "I mixed in some good offspeed. Overall, I felt like it was good."

The D-backs gave Ray a lead to work with in the first when Grégor Blanco led off with a triple and scored on David Peralta's groundout. Later in the inning, Jake Lamb's triple brought home Brandon Drury, who had singled.
The runs came against Giants starter Ty Blach, who is battling for the No. 5 spot in the club's rotation. Blach gave up five hits and struck out four over 2 2/3 innings after allowing one run in his first three outings of the spring.

The Giants got on the board in the third when Justin Ruggiano was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and Gorkys Hernández followed with an RBI double to left.
Up next for Giants:Matt Moore is slated to make his fourth Cactus League start on Sunday when the Giants host the D-backs at 1:05 p.m. PT at Scottsdale Stadium. Moore has allowed five runs on nine hits in seven innings this spring. Moore has struck out 10, but he has issued six walks.
Up next for D-backs: Listen live on Gameday Audio as the D-backs will once again face the Giants on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. MST as they send Archie Bradley to the mound at Scottsdale Stadium. Bradley, who is battling for a rotation spot, is looking to rebound from his last outing in which he allowed six runs.
