ARLINGTON -- Left-hander Robert Garcia took another step toward his return to the Rangers on Wednesday.
Garcia threw a live batting practice, facing Texas batters Nicky Lopez, Josh Jung and Kyle Higashioka, and he said it went "great."
"Honestly, it felt good to be back. It felt normal," said Garcia, who has been on the injured list since April 23 due to left rotator cuff inflammation.
"It was hard for me to sleep last night, because I was just excited to get out there. ... I accomplished everything I needed to accomplish."
Garcia's next step will be to go on a rehab assignment, likely starting on Saturday. The plan is for him to make two or three appearances before being activated.
"We want him back, obviously. We want his health -- that part is obviously most important -- but we need him to produce," manager Skip Schumaker said. "So, it's not just about getting back, but helping us win games."
