LOS ANGELES -- The Rockies made a pair of bullpen moves Monday, reinstating left-handed pitcher Boone Logan from the 15-day disabled list and optioning right-hander Miguel Castro to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Logan had been on the DL since May 25, retroactive to May 18, due to inflammation in his left shoulder. He threw a perfect inning in his sole rehab appearance with Albuquerque, striking out a batter. Before the injury he held a 1.93 ERA and was holding left-handed batters to a .129/.182/.226 batting line.
"It's been a void in our bullpen since he's been out, not having that lefty to match up late in games," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. "He's been throwing the ball really well for us, having a very good year."
Weiss said Castro would likely return to the big leagues "before too long."
"He's very effective, he's going to be a big part of the back end of our bullpen," Weiss said.
The 21-year-old has a 3.75 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 12 innings with the Rockies this season.
