Jackson posts first 4-hit game amid strong start to pro career

It’s been a smooth start in the professional ranks for Daniel Jackson after he won the 2026 Golden Spikes Award with Georgia.
Jackson, drafted by the Rockies with the 37th overall pick this summer, collected his first four-hit game with Single-A Fresno on Sunday. He drove in three and scored twice, aiding a wild 10-9 win for the Grizzlies over Stockton at Chukchansi Park.
With Stockton having jumped out to a 7-0 lead, Jackson stepped to the plate with runners on first and second base in the fourth inning, singling home Fresno’s first run. In doing so, he recorded a hit in his fifth straight game.
Jackson then contributed to a five-run sixth inning, singling another run home on a ground ball through the left side. He advanced to third on a Ronny Ugarte double and then scored on a wild pitch.
Entering the bottom of the ninth chasing two runs, Jackson followed a leadoff walk with an RBI double to deep right-center field, narrowly missing a game-tying homer. Jackson scored the tying run on an Ugarte single. But Stockton stranded the bases loaded to send the game to extras.
Jackson singled again in the 10th but stayed at first base after a pair of lineouts ended the frame. Cort MacDonald then delivered the walk-off winner in the 11th on a single.
In finishing the day 4-for-6, Jackson upped his slash line to .385/.520/.692 through 11 games. The 21-year-old catcher/designated hitter has also posted multiple hits in five games, adding three home runs and three doubles.
Jackson, the Rockies’ No. 6 prospect, had a historic 2026 season as a Bulldog before turning pro. He became the first catcher in Division I history to hit 25 homers and steal 25 bases in the same season, while he also became the third Triple Crown winner in SEC history with a .379 average, 32 long balls and a school-record 87 RBIs.
