Guzman launches first career grand slam

BALTIMORE -- Rangers rookie Ronald Guzmán belted his first career grand slam in Sunday's 6-5 loss at Camden Yards to give the visitors an early 4-0 lead.
It was the 23-year-old's ninth career big league homer, in his 70th game.
"To hit a grand slam or have two home runs in one game, those are the things I feel like it's very tough to do," Guzman said. "And being able to do that ... it was an amazing feeling."
Orioles spot starter Miguel Castro walked the Rangers' first three batters before striking out Rougned Odor. Then Guzman turned on Castro's 1-1 sinker, sending an arcing blast over the grounds crew shed in right field.
Afterward, Guzman credited the guys before him in the lineup for allowing him a longer look at a starter who was announced only a couple hours before gametime.
"It definitely helped a lot," Guzman said. "I'd never seen him before. I knew he had some movement on the fastball and that he's a pretty good pitcher. And being able to see the guys take him, I went up there, take a strike, try to see where the ball was. And on the third pitch, I was going to swing."
Manny Machado's homer in the bottom of the inning pulled Baltimore back to within 4-1, before the Orioles exploded for a five-run third. Shin-Soo Choo added a solo shot in the seventh for Texas.
