KANSAS CITY -- Royals right-hander Chris Young underwent successful surgery to repair his bilateral core and right-sided adductor, the club announced Tuesday.
The procedure, performed by Dr. Bill Meyers in Philadelphia earlier Tuesday, involved Young's abdominal area to his pelvis and right groin.
Recovery time is expected to be eight weeks, and it is anticipated that Young will be at full strength by Spring Training.
Young, 37, is coming off his worst season in the Major Leagues -- 3-9 with a 6.19 ERA in 34 games. In 2017, Young will be entering the second year of a two-year deal with the Royals.
