Earlier this week, Royals general manager Dayton Moore beamed when talking about Perez's defensive accomplishments.
"We're very proud of Salvador's fourth straight Gold Glove," Moore said. "That's an amazing accomplishment. We're fortunate to have a Gold Glove catcher."
Now, Perez, 26, will add his first Silver Slugger Award to his resume. Perez broke his own Royals franchise record for home runs by a catcher by hitting 22 last season, while driving in 64 runs. He hit .247 overall.
