The Giants threw their 10th pitching shutout of the season in the previous game, and followed that up with the club's 110th and 111th home runs of the season in this one. That put them as the MLB leaders in both categories and on pace to be just the fourth team to finish the season as outright leaders in homers and shutouts, or the ninth team in MLB history to have a share of the lead in both categories. The only other teams to have outright leads in both categories to end the season were the 1911 Athletics, 1944 Cardinals, 1959 Braves and 1978 Brewers.
