OAKLAND -- Sean Manaea had a decision to make after throwing the season's first no-hitter Saturday night for the A's against the Red Sox.
Did he call his parents first or his girlfriend?
"I decided I had to call mom and dad first," the left-hander said Sunday morning, after what proved to be a long Saturday night. "And it turned out my girlfriend was OK with that."

Manaea, who said during the postgame media scrum that he couldn't actually quite believe he'd done it, found that Opal and Sam Manaea had no difficulty in believing. During his FaceTime call, they lit up the screen.
"You couldn't get the smiles off their faces," Manaea said. "Particularly my mom."
The same was true for his girlfriend, Megan Stone, who was, for the day, reasonably detached from all things baseball.
"She was in Rocky Point, Mexico, for the birthday party of one of her girlfriends," Manaea said.
While he was on social media, Manaea came across a tweet from Boston's Hanley Ramirez congratulating Manaea for the performance. Ramirez made the final out Saturday night.
"That was great, because early on, he hit two [homers] off me that haven't landed yet," Manaea said.
