NEW YORK – White Sox left-hander Sean Newcomb left Wednesday night’s 10-5 loss to the Yankees in the bottom of the fifth inning with a left triceps contusion after being hit by a line drive. The club announced that Newcomb is day to day.
With a runner on first and the Yankees leading, 6-3, Anthony Volpe hit a line drive that struck Newcomb's upper left arm. The ball then bounced to shortstop Luisangel Acuña, who was able to get the force play at second base.
After warming up to make sure he was OK, Newcomb left the game and was replaced by Tyler Davis, who went on to allow a three-run homer to Paul Goldschmidt to make it a 9-3 game.
