Stanton, Gordon, Ozuna are Gold Glove finalists

MIAMI -- Three of the Marlins most productive offensive players are also being recognized for their defensive skills.
Right fielder Giancarlo Stanton, second baseman Dee Gordon and left fielder Marcell Ozuna on Thursday were announced as finalists for the Rawlings Gold Glove awards. Winners will be unveiled on Nov. 7 at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.

For Stanton, the Gold Glove nomination is the latest in what could be a busy offseason for the four-time All-Star. Stanton is a National League MVP favorite after pacing the Majors in home runs (59) and RBIs (132).
On Tuesday night, the slugger received the National League Hank Aaron Award, given to the player recognized as the top offensive player.
Stanton is up against tough competition in right field, with Yasiel Puig of the Dodgers and Jason Heyward of the Cubs rounding out the top three.
Defensively, Stanton committed four errors and had a fielding percentage of .988.
Gordon, who batted .308 and paced the Majors with 60 stolen bases, is seeking his second Gold Glove. His first came in 2015.
Also up for the Gold Glove at second base are DJ LeMahieu of the Rockies and Cubs veteran Ben Zobrist.

Ozuna is one of three finalists in left field, joining Gerardo Parra of the Rockies and Adam Duvall of the Reds.
This year's Gold Glove Awards represent just one way the game's top performers will be recognized. Voting is underway now for the Esurance MLB Awards, which annually honor MLB's greatest achievements as part of an industry-wide balloting process. MLB Awards season will culminate on Friday, Nov. 17, when winners are announced live on MLB Network and MLB.com starting at 8 p.m. ET.

Defensive metrics factor partly into determining the Gold Glove winners.

In his first season with the Marlins in 2015, Gordon was the Gold Glove winner. That season, he was one of the top players in the National League, leading the league in batting average (.333), stolen bases (58) and hits (205).
An All-Star for the second time, Ozuna had his finest season, batting .312 with 37 home runs and 124 RBIs. Defensively, he committed five errors and had a fielding percentage of .984.
In terms of his advanced statistics, Ozuna had 10 defensive runs saved, according to FanGraphs.
At second base, Gordon committed just 12 errors and posted a .982 fielding percentage. According to FanGraphs, Gordon had a UZR (Ultimate Zone Rating) of 6.4.
Stanton had 10 defensive runs saved in right.
