NEW YORK -- The Orioles continued a bullpen shuffle this weekend in New York, adding lefty Tanner Scott to the roster prior to Sunday afternoon's finale in the Bronx. Scott, who took the roster place of Jimmy Yacabonis -- who was recalled and pitched an inning on Saturday -- made his season debut.
Scott, Baltimore's No. 6 prospect per MLB Pipeline, gives the O's a third lefty in their bullpen to go with Rule 5 Draft pick Nestor Cortes Jr. and Richard Bleier. He was originally slated to be part of Triple-A Norfolk's rotation this spring, but the Orioles decided he'd be better as a relief option for them this season. Scott allowed one run on two hits in 1 2/3 innings in the O's 8-7, 12-inning win Sunday.
The move keeps the Orioles with a three-man bench for now, as they placed Colby Rasmus on the disabled list prior to Saturday's game.
