Padres acquire reliever Williams from Seattle

The Padres acquired right-hander Taylor Williams from the Mariners in exchange for a player to be named later ahead of Monday's Trade Deadline.

Williams, 29, has a 1–1 record with six saves and a 5.93 ERA to go with 19 strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings over 14 relief appearances. He has limited opposing hitters to a .231 average, including a .222 mark against left-handed hitters and a .240 mark against righties.

Williams was selected by the Brewers in the fourth round of the 2013 Draft out of Kent State University. He has a career record of 3–5 with a 5.34 ERA in 85 games in parts of four Major League seasons between the Brewers (2017–19) and Mariners (2020).
